San Francisco Bay Area Rails (DVD video)

Featuring the SOUTH BAY

The San Francisco Bay Area has a lot to offer when it comes to railroading! In this show, the first in a series featuring Bay Area Rails, we will explore the South Bay using San Jose as our hub. Amtrak, Caltrain, Altamont Commuter Express (ACE), Union Pacific, BNSF, and several tourist railroads all operate here.

You’ll get a chance to explore parts of UP’s Coast Subdivision, Niles Subdivision, Oakland Subdivision, Warm Springs Subdivision, and other areas. You’ll travel to Watsonville Junction and follow the Davenport and Hollister locals, which originate from here. A few side trips will bring you to the Niles Canyon Railway, the Santa Cruz, Big Trees & Pacific Railway, and the Roaring Camp & Big Trees Narrow Gauge Railroad. The variety of motive power you’ll witness on the freights include DRGW GP40-2’s and the newest MP36PH-3C pulling Caltrain’s Baby Bullets. With the number of commuter trains, freights, and locals that travel through the heart of Silicon Valley, you’ll see there really is some great railroading action here!
